Under 18 Sun

Season 2005/06

7 February – Under 18’s Lincs Cup Semi-final. – Deeping Rangers 3 Louth 4 after extra time. (3 – 3 at full time.)

Market Deeping Town Mayor Councillor Bob Broughton was guest of honour at this keenly fought cup match at Outgang Road. The first half was played at a frantic pace and the Rangers defence were superb at keeping the visitors at bay. It was a superb half and Rangers found themselves 3 – 0 up at half time thanks to goals from Goymour (2), and Needham. Louth scored a quick goal after the restart, and within 3 minutes the scores were level. Although both sides continued to create chance neither could make a breakthrough as extra time loomed. Louth took the lead in the second period of extra-time as Deeping tired, and although they raised their game at the end looking for an equaliser the hosts could not catch the visitors. Louth now play Humberston Motors who beat Spalding a in the other semi-final

15 January Deeping Rangers U18’s 11 Peterborough City 2

The watching fans were treated to a goalfest when these two teams met at Outgang Road. The uninitiated would not have been able to guess the final outcome at the start of the game as it was Peterborough City that scored first after 2 minutes. It did not take long for the hosts to equalise, but then Peterborough City reclaimed the lead again. At half time Rangers were in front 5 – 2. The second half was all one way traffic with the Peterborough keeper keeping the score down. Rangers were however able to score 6 more goals to claim all 3 points. Scorers – Peterborough City – Parker and Aldred Deeping Rangers – Ellis (4), Atkins, Duffy (2), Williams (2), Avis and Douglas.

8 January 2006 Deeping Rangers U18’s Sunday 3 Grimsby Mariners 2

This Quarter Final of the Lincolnshire Cup was played on a bitterly cold Sunday afternoon at Outgang Road. The visitors took the lead midway through the first half, and although Deeping created chances, poor finishing and good goal keeping meant they ended the first half trailing. In the second half the watching crowd expected the Mariners to come out looking for a finishing goal. It was Deeping who scored first after about 10 minutes. They started to play the ball out wide to their wingers and this stretched the Mariners defence at the back, and two quick goals were scored in the space of about 3 minutes to put the hosts in front. The visitors were not finished however and half way through the half they scored a second to level the game. Deeping reverted back to playing the ball through the middle of the park instead of using their wide men, and this meant that any chances created were closed down quickly by the visitors. Just as everybody was expecting the tie to go into extra time Rangers claimed a third goal, and there was not enough time for the Mariners to come back and equalise. Deeping progress throuth to the next round, where they join the Deeping Rangers UCL Team in the semi final draw.

18 September 2005 . Deeping Rangers U18”s 11 Peterborough City U18’s 1

The first 20 minutes of this game was about even but then Rangers scored. City then got into the game and played better football, and were eventually rewarded with a penalty for hand ball. The spot kick was dully dispatched to even the scores at 1 – 1. This seemed to spark the Deeping side in to life, and they scores 2 more quick goals before half time. After some harsh words at half time Rangers came out and played a lot better better and scored 6 goals in about 20 minutes. Deeping made a triple substitution and Josh Williams scored with almost his first touch. The game was over as a contest with 15 minutes to go. Special mention must be made to Dominic Goymour who scored 8 goals from 11 attempts. The other scorers for Rangers were James Duffy and Joe Taylor.

11 Sept 2005: Deeping Rangers U18’s 5 Netherton U18’s 0

Deeping Rangers Under 18’s Sunday Team opened their League campaign with a home fixture against Netheron United. The first 20 minutes were very tight, and Rangers had one opportunity in that time but the visiting keeper made a good save to deny them. It took until the half hour for the deadlock to be broken with a goal from Liam Palmer to put the hosts in front. After that Deeping started to dominate the game although they could not increase their lead prior to half time. The second half started in the same vain with Rangers on top, and ten minutes in Palmer claimed his second. Five minutes later he completed his hat trick. On 75 minutes Liam Palmer was involved again with the fourth goal when he crossed the ball for Matty Atkins to half volley in to the net to make it 4 – 0. The scoring was completed in the 85 minutes when Atkins was the provider as he whipped in a corner for Palmer to claim his fourth goal of the game and complete the vistory for Deeping Rangers.

Season 2004/05

6 February 2005 Deeping Rangers U’18s 1 Bourne U’18s 2

This PFA Cup 1/4 Final was played at Deeping Ranger’s Outgang Road ground between Deeping Rangers and Bourne Town from a lower league. Bourne started the brighter team, and were 1 – 0 up after 5 minutes. On 12 minutes Bourne should have doubled their lead when their no 12 was one on one with Ben Derbyshire in the Deeping goal. Ben did well to save with his feet. Three minutes later Bourne tested Ben Derbshire again, but this time he saved well with his hands. On 25 minutes Bourne were awarded a dubious penalty which they dully dispatched to make it 2 – 0. Rangers then had a chance on 32 minutes when they were awarded a free kick. The ball was floated into the box, but no Deeping player was on hand to conect with it and the chance was lost. The first half ended without Rangers ever testing the Bourne goal keeper. The host side started the second half more sprightly and should have reduced the defecit five minutes into the half. They continued to exert pressure and finally broke through on 75 minbutes courtousy of Adriano Staffieri. In the last five minutes of the game Rangers were awarded 2 corners for which Ben Derbyshire left his goal mouth to take a position in the Bourne area as the hosts went in search of an equaliser. It was not to be however and the visitors went through to the next round with a 2 – 1 victory.

Sunday 5 December 2004 Deeping Rangers U18’s 2 Thorpe Wood U18’s 1

With the opposition playing in claret and blue Deeping Rangers U18’s Sunday Team changed to white shirts and claret shorts for this game. The game started very slowly, and it wasn’t until the 12 minutes that either side had a shot on goal. It was Deeping who had the first shot firing high over the bar. Thorpe Wood had to wait another 12 minutes before they had their first real chance being an header which went just outside the post. Ten minutes later the visitors should have gone ahead when their advancing striker was challenged by Ben Derbyshire, who did just enough to put the Thorpe Wood player off, and enable enough Rangers players to get back to defend and clear the ball. Deeping then broke out and had a chance at the other end. Adriano Staffieri got behind the visitors defence and past their keeper, but his shot was headed clear for a corner. It was Thorpe Wood who scored first, on 40 minutes, following a well taken freekick in to the Deeping box. A minute from half time the spectators thought the hosts were going to equalise but they hit the goal post, and the half ended with Thorpe Wood in front by the one goal. The home suporters were left wondering where goals would come from even though two efforts had been cleared off the line.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Rangers made a double substitution as they chased the game, and this seemed to produce results as 10 minutes later, one of the substitutes Dan Jacobs levelled the scores. Two minutes later the same player had put Deeping in front, and the game had turned in favour of the hosts. The game ended in near darkness as clouds gathered to obscure the setting sun, but the hosts hung on to win the game and earn 3 points.

Team – Ben Derbyshire, Glenn Vaughan, James Morrison, Jimmy Russon, Tony Wooding, Anton Well, Adriano Staffiero, Ashley Garford, remo Poli, Jagdeep Singh, James Duffy, Dan Jacobs, Halil Ulu, Andrew Ward.
